Golan Heights
The Golan Heights, territory occupied by Israel after being attacked in the Six-Day-War in 1967. Syria has never stopped demanding the land to be returned. In 2006 the United Nations claimed that Israel should end its occupation of the Golan. The overwhelming beauty of the Golans' landscape forms a strong contrast with the sad and bloody history.
Sarah was born and raised in Germany, where she studied Spanish and Fine Arts (Painting and Photography). In 2005 she travelled to Latin America for the first time which was a turning point in her life. She went back to the continent many times and started photographing social issues in 2006, influenced by photographers like Paolo Pellegrin or David Alan Harvey. “To me, photography is a way to tell someone’s story. I am not interested in the big issues, but in the small stories of people anyone would listen to. To these people that let me be a part of their lives for a moment that can be a miserable, difficult or also euphoric one, I have a responsibility. “
